Selling to financial institutions in 2026: the survey

Home › Research › Selling to Financial Institutions Survey 2026

Ten questions, two minutes, no name needed. For anyone who sells to banks, credit unions, insurers, asset managers or fintechs: which channel books the meetings, how long a bank takes to reply, who answers, and what blocks a deal. We publish the results as a free report, and everyone who answers gets it first.

Why we are asking

Most of what is written about selling to financial institutions comes from vendors of sales tools, and most of it is about every industry at once. We want numbers from the people who actually do it: how long a bank really takes, which channel books the first meeting, who replies, and what kills a deal after the first call.

The survey is anonymous. There is no name field, and the only optional field is an email address if you want the results sent to you. It is stored apart from your answers, so the two cannot be joined.

What you get

We will publish once at least 100 people have answered, with the method and the counts. Until then nothing is published.

The ten questions

  1. Who do you sell to? Banks, credit unions, insurers, asset managers, fintechs, payments companies, or other.
  2. How many people work at your company?
  3. Your role.
  4. Which channel booked most of your first meetings with financial institutions in the last 12 months?
  5. From first contact to first meeting with a bank, how long does it usually take?
  6. From first meeting to signature, how long does it usually take?
  7. Which titles reply to you most often?
  8. What most often blocks a deal after the first meeting?
  9. Do you use an outsourced SDR or lead generation agency?
  10. If so, how is it priced?

And one optional free-text question: what would make you reply to a cold email from a vendor?

Who is running this

Moe Alhosni, founder of ROI Maximizer, a pay-per-meeting lead generation agency. I spent 4 years and 7 months at Moody's in London (October 2019 to April 2024), most recently as Assistant Director, Sales, working with financial institutions and asset managers. We have not run a campaign for a finance client yet, which is one reason for asking: the published numbers should come from more than one agency's experience.
